How to Try The New Google Search

Confirmed. The rumors about Google’s redesign are true, and you can try it for yourself with a very simple method.

1. Go to Google.com.
2. Once it loads, enter this code into your web browser’s URL address field:

javascript:void(document.cookie="PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com");

There shouldn’t be any http://google.com in front of that. Just that code.

3. Hit enter.
4. Reload the Google.com page and you will have access to the new user interface.

I tried it out. It works.

Many Canadians can now see their homes, streets, points of interest and landmarks on Google Street View. The street level view of the top major cities in Canada has finally gone live, after months of Google cars and cameras roaming the streets, adding the same feature Americans have on Google Maps.

The added street view perspective gives Canadians a detailed image view of the largest cities in Canada, allowing users to take a virtual 360 degree tour of the city. The online virtual tour of cities is available for free on Google Maps, and can be activated by clicking on the icon of the little yellow man when the street preview is available.

Google Street View automatically blurs faces and license plates to protect peoples identity and privacy.

Google only mapped five of the largest provinces in Canada including, Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec, highlighting selected cities to be covered on Google Maps. Canada now joins some of the other countries featured on Google Maps including United States, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, France, and Japan.

Google fast flip released

Google has published a new version of their Google News, called Google fast flip, making it easier to browse multiple news sources through one outlet.

Fast flip is able to deliver top headlines from all around the globe, including the BBC News, New York Times, The Washing Post, and everything else from TechCrunch to Cosmopolitan, giving something for everybody to read.

Google fast flip organizes top news sources by categories of popularity, sections, topics and news sources. There is also an assortment of filters for each category to narrow down user searches, such as ‘Entertainment’, ‘Politics’, ‘Sci/Tech’ and more. Viewers are given a thumbnail image preview of each news source Google uses, displaying each thumbnail in an easy to view row.

Fast flip is still in the beta stages and came out of Google Labs earlier today. The service still needs more sources, but includes some helpful features such as “Like”, the same type of feature Facebook offers to users.

Google fast flip is also offered in an optimized iPhone version for readers that takes advantage of the swipe left or right feature for fast browsing.

Google’s UK headquarters on fire

Breaking News Wire is reporting that a fire has broken out at Google’s UK headquarters in London.

The 6-story building is located at Buckingham Palace Road, near the Victoria Place Shopping Centre and can be seen below. “We were called in at 1.53 p.m. (local time),” a fire brigade spokesman said according to BNO. Firefighters are still currently on scene battling the fire but it has been described as “not very large” by the fire brigade. Initial rumours suggest that it could be the result of a BBQ gone wrong at Google.

Currently there are no reports that anyone has been injured in the incident and we hope it remains that way. Daily Telegraph reporter Jon Swaine posted a picture of the fire on twitter.

Update: The Telegraph also confirmed the reports and provided a video of the events, we have embedded this below.
