BlogoFlux has learnt that Microsoft is planning full-screen advertising within its flagship Windows Live Messenger product.

The latest internal build (15.3.2689.110) for Windows Live Messenger 2010 compiled only last week contains the new advertising. When users first launch the client they will be presented with a pop over video commercial with an option to cancel the advert (clicking on an X). The commercials pop-up and cover the contacts list until a user skips the advert or waits until the 30 second commercial has finished.

Videos will be provided by Microsoft’s MSN Video service and will include movie trailers, local news clips and product commercials. The move is likely to be a controversial one that could be met with criticism from Windows Live Messenger users. Neowin understands that the full-screen adverts are only at the testing stage and that Microsoft may offer a subscription or one off payment for users to remove adverts altogether.

After the Windows 7 launch everyone took a look around Times Square and found two huge adverts for Windows 7.

Similar to the Vista advertising, Microsoft has taken out huge Windows 7 adverts in New York that are both impressive and bold.

Earlier this month BlogoFlux reported on some potential Windows 7 adverts. Last night Microsoft began airing these adverts.

The first ever TV commercial originally appeared earlier this month on US TV stations. In the new round of Windows 7 commercials the focus is on features. The first, named “Personalization: Your PC, Your Style” demonstrates the customisation features in Windows 7. Next up is an advert focussing on Aero Shake, perhaps a less used feature of the new Windows 7. The advert shows American footballers and shakes away the clutter around them. A third advert shows off the features of Xbox Media Center and the Xbox 360 extender. The final advert is the cheesiest one yet, named “Windows 7: Your PC, your life” it has a several teens who appear to be part of a band singing about making their movie whilst a teenage girl watches the video on her laptop. Hmm.
